وَٱلشَّمْسِ وَضُحَىٰهَا ﴿١﴾

By the sun and its brightness,

وَٱلْقَمَرِ إِذَا تَلَىٰهَا ﴿٢﴾

And the moon when it follows it,

وَٱلنَّهَارِ إِذَا جَلَّىٰهَا ﴿٣﴾

And the day when it displays it,

وَٱلَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَىٰهَا ﴿٤﴾

And the night when it covers it,

وَٱلسَّمَآءِ وَمَا بَنَىٰهَا ﴿٥﴾

And the heaven and (He) Who constructed it,

وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا طَحَىٰهَا ﴿٦﴾

And the earth and by (He) Who spread it,

وَنَفْسٍ وَمَا سَوَّىٰهَا ﴿٧﴾

And (the) soul and (He) Who proportioned it,

فَأَلْهَمَهَا فُجُورَهَا وَتَقْوَىٰهَا ﴿٨﴾

And He inspired it (to distinguish) its wickedness and its righteousness

قَدْ أَفْلَحَ مَن زَكَّىٰهَا ﴿٩﴾

Indeed, he succeeds who purifies it,

وَقَدْ خَابَ مَن دَسَّىٰهَا ﴿١٠﴾

And indeed, he fails who buries it.

كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ بِطَغْوَىٰهَآ ﴿١١﴾

Denied Thamud by their transgression,

إِذِ ٱنۢبَعَثَ أَشْقَىٰهَا ﴿١٢﴾

When (was) sent forth (the) most wicked of them.

فَقَالَ لَهُمْ رَسُولُ ٱللَّهِ نَاقَةَ ٱللَّهِ وَسُقْيَـٰهَا ﴿١٣﴾

But said to them (the) Messenger (of) Allah, "(It is the) she-camel (of) Allah and her drink."

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنۢبِهِمْ فَسَوَّىٰهَا ﴿١٤﴾

But they denied him, and they hamstrung her. So destroyed them their Lord for their sin and leveled them.

وَلَا يَخَافُ عُقْبَـٰهَا ﴿١٥﴾

And not He fears its consequences.
